Year-Round Safety
Flying Devices & Equipment Policy
For the purpose of protecting and enhancing the safety of our guests, employees, and property, The Highlands prohibits the unauthorized use, operation, or transportation of flying devices on Resort property and lift systems.
These devices include, but are not limited to:
- Drones
- Hang Gliders
- Paragliders and Speed-Flying Canopies
- Kites
- Hot Air Balloons
- Quadcopters
- Any other flying devices, either directly or remotely controlled.
Service Animals on Lifts
Chairlifts (Foot Passengers): Foot passengers on chairlifts are allowed to bring lap-sized service animals that meet ADA guidelines. The service animal must remain under the direct control of the handler at all times during transport.
Chairlifts (Skiers, Snowboarders, and Mountain Bikers): Skiers, snowboarders, and mountain bikers on any lift are allowed to bring a service animal carried in a backpack, provided the animal meets ADA guidelines and remains secure during transport.
Service Animals On-MountainSkiing, Snowboarding, & Mountain Biking: No service animals are allowed to run down the slopes or trails for skiing or mountain biking. This restriction is maintained due to The Highlands' safety requirements necessary for the reasonably safe operation of our on-mountain activities. These safety concerns include the use of service animals on the slopes that expose the user, animal, and other guests to safety hazards. These safety concerns are compounded by our facility's large volume of trail use.
Dogs On-Resort
- Only trained service dogs or leashed dogs on designated hiking trails in the summer are allowed.
- Hiking with your pets can be fun and rewarding; be sure to keep your pet on a leash.
- Practice “Leave No Trace” ethics and clean up your dog’s waste.
- Plan for your dog’s and your own needs on the trail. Be prepared with plenty of water, and don’t hike beyond your or your pets’ limits.
- Guests with dogs perceived as bad-mannered can be asked to leave the resort property.
